the Essential Steps in the Process of Mounting a License Plate
It is illegal to drive without a license plate as you are said to be committing a crime. When you are seen driving without a license plate by the police, you become their next target. Your car should, therefore, have a license plate attached to it. Hence the need to know how to install one arises. Taking every tool that you will require in the whole process becomes your first step. The required tools comprise of, the correct screws, the validated sticker and the screwdriver which is flat-headed.
The next step will depend on if it is the first time for your car to be installed with a license plate or if it has previously been installed with one. If your car had a license plate before, it means that it had predrilled holes and hence no need to drill other holes. If the old sticker still exists, you unmount it and clean the area to attach the new validation tag. You may need a screwdriver when unmounting the old sticker. The new sticker should be mounted at the top corners of the car’s license plates. In a car that has already drilled holes, you line up the license plates using the holes and screw the license plate in with the help of a screwdriver to attach the plates. You should ensure that the plate is not that tight. If you are installing the license plate for the first time it means that you should drill holes. You should make sure that your bumper is made of fiberglass. You measure to find the center of the bumper using a measuring tape and mark the area with a pen. You mark the area where to drill holes after placing the plate over the marked area. After marking the points, you drill the holes and follow the procedure of the predrilled holes.
There is also an option for those people who are not interested in drilling their bumper. You purchase a fitting adhesive-mounted bracket for your car. It is advisable to clean up the area with rubbing alcohol to ensure that the adhesive sticks properly. After the bumper has dried, you try fitting the bracket with its protective film on. You peel off the protective film at the back of the bracket and mount it after the fitting trial. Using a screwdriver, you attach the license plate to the bracket using the screws. It is advisable for people whose cars are made of metal and have never drilled holes to use this method. This is because drilling in a metal front bumper is somehow complicated.
